The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting was very special - the wine is refined and a beautiful representation of the Etna wine; they prepared generous portions of delicious, locally sourced bites to pair with the wine. Booked a reservation for 7 on short notice and they were extremely responsive and accommodating. Beautiful property conveniently located near the south slope of Etna's visitor center. We had a wonderful time on the tour and trying the amazing Etna DOC wines. Extremely generous amount of food as well. We had such a wonderful experience! The tour was really interesting and gave us great insights, you can really tell how much passion goes into the winery. The views of Mt. Etna also made everything even more special. The wine tasting with the food pairing was excellent. We booked the Sicilian lands experience and had a private tour of the winery and wine tasting. The winery had great views of mount etna. Both the wine and food were incredible. We had plenty of time to relax and slowly enjoy our wine and dessert wine. The owner was highly responsive on WhatsApp and very accommodating. Tania and Francesco were hospitable and very friendly. Overall the service was above and beyond. We had a great time and a unique experience that felt personalized and authentic! So it started out with some tomato and almond and anchovy with butter dish with white wine. And then we had Rosa wine with olives, chickpea, bread and balsamic and the a great red wine with meat and cheese board. they also make there own olive oils. everything was expertly explained about the local food and why Mt.Etna volcanic wine is so rich in minerals and flavors. beautiful vineyard with over 22,000 plants with Europes still active volcano Mt.Etna in the back ground. a must try experience. Fuimos a esta hermosa bodega cerca de Catania, Sicilia, y disfrutamos de una exquisita cata de platos con diferentes vinos. Empezamos con un plato de tomate, almendras y anchoas con mantequilla, acompañado de vino blanco. Luego, degustamos vino rosado con aceitunas, garbanzos, pan y vinagre balsámico, y finalmente un excelente vino tinto con una tabla de embutidos y quesos. También elaboran sus propios aceites de oliva. Nos explicaron con gran detalle la gastronomía local y por qué el vino volcánico del Etna es tan rico en minerales y sabores. Un hermoso viñedo con más de 22.000 plantas, con el volcán Etna, aún activo en Europa, de fondo. My husband and I went to Tenuta Papale after our Etna trip, in January, and it was such a lovely experience to taste the local wines paired with the traditional food. The experience is well worth the money - the wines are many and food portions are big. Giussepe is such a great host - very attentive, he responds to messages very quickly and booking the place and making the payment in advance was so easy. He was also very flexible as we were a bit late to the winery. Another trip to the Estate will be coming in the future. I thorough enjoyed my visit at Papal Estate this week. The guide was excellent and gave lots of historical and horticultural information. The tour of the vineyard lasted about 45 minutes. They have two vineyards. 1000 of their olive trees are at the other orchard. There were only a couple of olive trees at this orchard, though the guide did provide a lot of information about the olive production. Then came the wine tasting that lasted nearly 2 hours with the four wines, olive oil, and an additional tasting of their dessert wines. Since I am a vegetarian, some of the pairings were a bit different than normal. You can see the 4 wines and pairing that I had. Overall, a wonderful experience and afternoon. I plan to return next fall on my next trip to Sicily. FYI - They are in the process of building a storage room and bottling process for their wines.
